Hello from the MTC!!!
I doubt anyone thought they'd be hearing from me this quick, but my P day is Friday. I lucked out because if it was Thursday I would have to wait until next week to get one. Anyways, the MTC is super cool. The first day is overwhelming, but they say "learning happens when we are uncomfortable." it kinda means that we have to go outside out comfort zone and make mistakes to learn.
One of the craziest things is actually being a missionary. Every time I see myself in the mirror I'm like whaattttttt thhhheeeeee! It's super cool to have so many missionaries all in the same place at the same time. There's so much power here.
My companion is Elder Vincent. He is in the picture attachment just to the right of me. Sorry for the low quality pic, but it was off Elder Harris camera haha. Elder Vincent is super outgoing and really funny. We get along well. We both have a high standard on the rules here. And just getting into the MTC we don't know all the rules so we try to keep them as well as we can, but it's funny cause it's always a debate of whether something is allowed or not in our district.
So when I got into the MTC my ear was hurting and my family thought it was an ear infection. So I went through the first day for a bit just sticking out the pain and the ringing in my ear, but once it was about 8:00 I told my companion we should go get my ear checked out. So we went to the front desk and told them. All the doctors had gone home for the day so I talked to one on the phone and they started my on antibiotics and told me to meet him at 9:20 the next morning. So Elder Vincent and I had to leave class to go see the doctor and we hated it. We wanted to learn, but we had to be waiting to see that doctor and it felt like forever! The doc checked out my ear and said it's infected and told us to go get my prescription at the BYU health center. So I got to leave the MTC boundaries on the 2nd day in the MTC hahahha. When we got back all the other elders swarmed us and asked us what it was like on the outside and stuff. It was really funny. We told them there was a zombie apocalypse and everyone outside is a zombie, but the MTC is protected and thats why we arent infected haha. My ear is doing better now haha. I can pay really good attention in class without that distraction anymore so its GREAT!
Also my teacher is Frere(brother) Ritchie. He served in the same mission and got back 2 years ago. He is super funny and a really good teacher. It's pretty crazy how well the french has come back to me. The spirit has brought a lot of french back. The gift of tongues is real.
